Can dwarf puffers be put with Guppies, Balloon Mollies, Platies, Swordtails and Bumble Bee Gobies?

Or will they rip the other fish apart?

I have read that they can be quite vicious, but I want peoples' opinions.

ThanksCan dwarf puffers be put with Guppies, Balloon Mollies, Platies, Swordtails and Bumble Bee Gobies?
Short answer, maybe.

They are quite vicious for the most part. My first experience with them was bad. (Some of my catfish still haven't grown their barbels back). Those three got moved into their own tank.

I have two others that have been in my community tank for a few months now, and I haven't had any issues (yet). It's pretty heavily planted though with plenty of snails (that's why they were put in there). (It has neons, catfish, kulli loaches, a pleco, platties, glass fish and a few others in it)

I would say if you have enough decorations to keep them distracted and if they are fed enough, give them a try. Just make sure to keep an eye on them and your other fish to make sure they are getting along.

(Just a note, the dwarf puffer is a freshwater fish and don't do well with salt. Some of the fish you listed, gobies especially, are brackish fish. Keep that in mind.)Can dwarf puffers be put with Guppies, Balloon Mollies, Platies, Swordtails and Bumble Bee Gobies?
No problem. You might look at getting a Figure Eight Puffer. I've got one with some bumblebee gobies and flounders, and they all get along great. Report Abuse

dwarf puffers shouldn't even go with other dwarf puffers. Ideal conditions for dp's is one alone in a 5-10 gallon tank. also, they need special conditions, like nothing with any type of sharp edges, and a tank with a hood that stays closed (silly little jumpers....) you also can't net them, they have to be 'scooped' in a cup or bowl or something with a lid over it so they don't jump out. they have skin, instead of scales, and they are NOT BRACKISH. they are strictly freshwater.

i've heard of a few people that had dp's in a community tank and they went well for a long time. they are very very VERY territorial, and need their space. so, unless you have a 55 or 60 gallon tank with a few other fish in it, i wouldn't try it. they will nip anything that looks like a tail, and anything that moves. they have very sharp teeth, and they are a puffer. they will PUFF.. . make sure they don't puff full of air, or they will kill themselfs.

I want one too. :D lol good luck. hope that helps!!!
What you heard is what I heard. I'd believe it if I were you!
